When an Enterprise portal item referencing a user-managed geodatabase is deleted, the corresponding service that utilizes this data is deleted, but the actual data within the geodatabase remains intact and accessible. User-managed geodatabases are specifically designed to maintain data separate from the services that access them. This means that even if an associated service is removed from the portal, the underlying data stored in the geodatabase is preserved.

This design allows for a flexible management structure where services can be created, deleted, or modified without risking data loss. Users can restore or reconfigure services without having to worry about the data integrity within the geodatabase, as it remains untouched by the deletion of the service. Thus, this separation between service and data management is a critical aspect of utilizing user-managed geodatabases effectively in an Enterprise environment.
